Encap Fast Acting Gypsum

Encap's Fast Acting Gypsum uses their Advanced Soil Technology coating to help the gypsum disperse and penetrate faster than standard gypsum granules. The coating breaks down on contact with water, releasing the calcium sulfate quickly into the soil profile. At 5,000 sq ft coverage per 30-lb bag (at the lawn application rate), it's more cost-efficient per square foot than Espoma's garden gypsum at comparable coverage. The trade-off: Encap is a processed product while Espoma is 100% natural mined gypsum. For most homeowners this distinction doesn't matter. Encap's product particularly shines for repairing salt-damaged turf along driveways and sidewalks after winter road salt application — the calcium displaces sodium that has built up from de-icers, restoring the soil's capacity to grow grass. If you're applying gypsum to a large area (over 3,000 sq ft) or specifically treating salt damage, Encap is the economical choice.
